Physical Education (P.E.) Teachers

A quality physical education program is one in which all instructors:

  • Possess current certification in physical education.
  • Participate regularly in professional development activities to maintain and upgrade
    knowledge of appropriate pedagogy and technology regarding the teaching of physical
    education.
  • Are certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Health Teacher Education

  • Candidates understand basic health education information. Prior to program completion, prospective teachers of health education shall demonstrate knowledge of:
    • 11. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillators
      (AED).

Sports Management Education

  • 8. Health and safety in sports programs, including:
    (i) Adaptive physical activities, nutrition, and exercise.
    (ii) Certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for the adult and child, and automated external defibrillator (AED) for the adult and child.
